8. Q. Can I use FOLDfactory.com if I don't have the FOLD book?
A. Yes, you can use the site. It's just easier if you have the book. The best way to use the site is to browse through the book and find the fold you want to build, go to the site and build the template. If you don't have the book, you will have to look through the visual index on the site and review the folding sequence illustrations and considerations online.

9. Q. How do I buy FOLD: The Professional's Guide To Folding?
A. You can buy the book directly from The Finishing Experts Group Web site, and through several printing industry organizations.

11. Q. Can I get the digital templates anywhere else?
A. No. FOLDfactory is the first-ever dynamic custom template building service, and it is only available at FOLDfactory.com

12. Q. How is FOLDfactory different than other templates I can buy over the web?
A. There are several web sites that sell standard templates in standard sizes for certain folding styles or die-cut specialty items. FOLDfactory creates a custom template for you in real-time based on the information you specify. There's nothing like it. And you don't just buy one template like those other sites—you buy unlimited access to build as many custom templates as you want.

13. Q. How long will I be able to access the template after I have built it?
A. Your template is built in real-time. You enter your specifications, and FOLDfactory builds the template in a matter of seconds and sends you to a download page. You must download the template when you get it—there is no archiving. If you misplace the template or alter it by mistake, simply go back to FOLDfactory and quickly build and download it again.

14. Q. Can I download templates for standard sheet sizes or envelope sizes?
A. Not yet—but we're working on it. We understand the value of such a feature and are aggressively working to provide this service to our customers. In the meantime, for guidance on standard envelope enclosure sizes, see pages 77-79 in FOLD: The Professional's Guide to Folding.

15. Q. What is your return policy?
A. The book can be returned for a refund within 30 days, as long as it is still in new condition. The FOLDfactory membership cannot be returned—we offer a free trial on the home page where you can build unlimited templates of the feature fold for free. This feature shows you how FOLDfactory works so that you understand what service you are purchasing, and so that you can try out a template and make sure it's compatible with your software.

16. Q. Will the FOLDfactory membership be automatically renewed after one year?
A. The membership will not be automatically renewed when the membership expires. You will receive a reminder e-mail as the membership expiration nears. At that time, you can choose to renew or to let your membership expire.

17. Q. Can I modify these templates myself, or request a modified template of a folding style?
A. All of the guides and fold marks placed in the template and can be moved or removed at will. Moving guides and fold marks in the provided templates will effect the outcome of the finished product and should be done very cautiously. There is currently no "special request" service at FOLDfactory.com, although our help desk can provide advice on such matters (support@expertsinfinishing.com). The best way to modify a folding style is to review the compensation requirements for the closest folding style in FOLD: The Professional's Guide To Folding, and then build it manually in the page layout software of your choice. Remember that it is a good idea to consult with your printer when creating "new" or modified folding styles just in case there may be technical issues with the modification.

18. Q. Will my printer/bindery know how to produce these FOLDRite™ folding styles?
A. The FOLDRite™ system was developed with leading binderies and printers in the US and Canada but there is no guarantee that every printer / bindery can manufacture all of the folding styles in the FOLDRite system. It is always a good idea to make sure your printer is involved in the early stages of a job. This way, if they cannot produce the folding style in-house, they will have time to find a bindery that can do it for you.

19. Q. Is every FOLDRite™ folding style featured in FOLD:The Professional's Guide to Folding available on FOLDfactory.com?
A. Most FOLDRite™ folding styles from FOLD:The Professional's Guide to Folding are available on FOLDfactory.com, with the exception of the Exotics family and a few other extremely complex folding styles that have too many variables to be created using FOLDfactory. For those few folding styles that cannot be built using FOLDFactory, FOLD:The Professional's Guide to Folding offers detailed guidelines for manual template creation.
